Effects of Negative Ions

How do they affect our health?

The effects of negative ions play a significant role in our state of wellbeing. Often called, “vitamins in the air”, they are essential elements for sustaining good health, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Both, positively (cations) and negatively charged ions (anions) are created continuously in our environment through sunlight, strong circulating air and flowing water. We do absorb them mainly through our skin. Only a small amount enters the body through inhalation. The more anions (-) present the more we benefit from them.

Negative ions produce positive effects on our body.
Positive ions usually have an opposite effect,
damaging our bio-chemistry.

The world has changed a lot in its biological form since the begining of our industrial and modernized era, hasn't it? Environmental pollution such as industrial combustion, coal fumes and car exhaust as well as electro smog, synthetic clothes and plastic material do reduce the amount of naturally occuring negative ions drastically.

Typically, in such an environment, positive ions (toxins) are present in high amounts which is considered unhealthy and may cause discomfort. When it becomes more difficult to gain beneficial effects from negative ions the body suffers more stress and discomfort.

To be effective and beneficial to us, it needs a substantial amount of neg-ions and less pos-ones. It is presumed that a healthy environment would consist of 2/3 neg. charged 1/3 pos. charged ones.

Measurements have shown that a build up of this healthful ratio is often present where water flows or moves fast. For example at the seashore (build from waves) or near waterfalls.

We do have also a little free natural ionizator
built in our homes

That explains why we usually feel refreshed and uplifted after showering (I really do!).

Posssible Positive Effects of Negative Ions on our Health

  • Induces better and more restful sleep.
  • Enhances mental concentration alertness.
  • Free radical scavengers, helps slow down the aging process.
  • compat viruses and bacteria in the air reducing the risk of influenca.

Indoor Pollution

An experiment about the effect of negative ions in the air related to health was conducted in a Swiss bank. The test ran over a period of 7 month.

One group of people worked in an office where the air was enhanced with minus-ions. The control group worked in conditions as usual. The result was that the group with ionized air reported sick sixteen times less compared to the other group.

How to Increase the Effects of Negative Ions?

Basically there are two ways to maintain yours and your families health.

  1. Reduce factors that deplete positive effects. Avoid Household Toxins like synthetic air fresheners and choose products and material (Interior, clothing a.s.o) that are as close to nature as possible.

  2. The growing awareness of the problem has led scientists to invent devices that accelerate ionic supply. Amongst such devices are ionizing/alkalizing water filters, Ionic Foot Bath and air ionizer machines to name a few. Some of the latest inovations are bed-linen and clothing.
