Detox Foot Soak
Relax and enjoy a detoxing foot bath
Detox Foot Soak is just a little extra treat you can do for your body to cleanse it. Adding the right incredients makes it a gentle and simple foot bath to detox. Most of the ingredients that are needed you probably will have at home already. Its an easy and simple treat and it takes only a couple of minutes to prepare it. And, you can meditate, reading or watching tv while you bathe your feet.
Foot Baths are a great addition to other natural detox methods like fasting and colon cleansing. Sure, you don't need to be on any of these programs to enjoy a foot bath detox. It is only, if you do it on its own, you may not get that much detoxifying effect out of it.
I do not want to underestimate the benefits of this treat. It can do wonder! It is well worth to do it in any way, it gives always a sence of overall well being and a relaxing feeling.
Here are the ones I like most and do enjoy every now and again. I am sure, you will enjoy it too!
Tips on how to prepare the foot bath
Give yourself at least 30 minutes time for the bath. Because of its relaxing effect, it would be best to do it before going to sleep. That means, afterwards you could just snuggle in to your bed and a deep healthy sleep would be guaranteed.
Decide upon which detox foot soak you want i.e. arrange the ingredients for it. Prepare the place where you will sit during the foot spa. Have a towel handy for later to dry your feet. Tip: Make yourself something to drink ready, water, tea, juice etc. (no wine or beer of course!).
Boil the water. Fill the bowl/basin only half with hot water, enough that your feet are covered with water. Pour in the ingredients you have choosen for the bath. The water should be hot, but only as hot as you can handle. Fill another jug or flask with hot water. That is, when your footbath cools down after a while, you can add more hot water to it. Make yourself comfortable, relax and enjoy it!
Recipes for Detox Foot Soak
As a general rule use 2-3 tablespoons of ingredients for 4 litre of water in your foot bath unless otherwise stated.
Clay is well known for its fantastic abilities to absorb and bind toxins especially pollutants and heavy metals. You can buy clay for bathing at health shops. Follow the instruction on how to prepare it and the amount on the product label.
You can also add 1-2 tablespoon natural sea salt to increase the clay's effect.
Caution: Don't use a metalic tube. Use one made of plastic, ceramic, wood etc.
Epsom Salts (magnesium sulfate)
Increases perspiration thus improving the cleansing process through the skin. The soak with Epsom Salt should be taken as hot as possible to cause maximum sweeting. Adding a few drops of essential oil like lavender could be nice.
Alkalizing with Baking Soda
The good old remedy with its endless uses. Baking soda is alkaline, so helps to balance the ph-level in the body. It also gives you a smooth and soft skin. Also, you can combine baking soda with epsom salt, around 2 tablespoon of each one.
You can use fresh grated ginger or powdered. I personally use always fresh ginger, because I think it is stronger and I like the smell of it too.
Cut 1 or 2 small ginger roots in slices and put in a vessel. Boil 1 litre of water. Poure it over the sliced ginger and let stand for 15 min before you add it to the warm water in your basin.
